Try using night lights. Turn your TV or radio on and relax. I had the same problem when I first got married. He worked shift work and I didn't like being alone at night. You'll get use to it. If you have to lay on the couch with a lamp on then do that. What ever makes you feel comfortable to get through the night. You'll be fine.

OK, your a big girl now married and everything. Get over it. If you want to have children some day you need to be the grown up. You wouldn't want to pass this on to your kids. Break the habit. That's all it is. Talk yourself into the fact that there is nothing to be afraid of because you are home alone.

had same problem - was really afraid of the dark, but only in the house, I could walk for hours at night in the street alone and I was not afraid of that, but as soon as I got home I was really afraid of sitting in the dark room if nobody was by my side.
I still think that it is because of low self confidence. After I gave birth to my first child (I have two now) I had to do something to make this feeling disappear. I had to get up at nights (as all moms do) and take care of baby in the dark room, because if I turned on the light baby would wake up. I was having really hard time , then I set down and thought everything this way - I have a child, if something bad happens I'm willing to give my life for him and put away all my other fears too, somebody exists and depends on me completely. I thought about this day by day and then my fear of darkness just disappeared, I think that's because I gained some confidence in myself, understood that there is somebody by my side who needs me to be strong and confident and I just grew up!
Nobody can help you, you have to just sit down and talk with yourself and as soon as you feel power in yourself, as soon as you feel that you are strong and don't need anybody to take care of you fear will disappear.

When my hubby is out of town I sleep on the sofa with the TV on. Then I make sure the outside lights are on and one light in the front of the house so when people look at the house they think someone is awake! I am scared as well! LOL

Try getting an animal like a cat or a dog. Something that you can talk to love on to help easy your fear. Try leaving a light on in another room so at least it won't be so dark for you.

Just the leave the lights on. If you're still scared, get yourself an mp3 player. Play a soothing music, or read books before going to bed.

Can't you turn on your lights? or even a dim light?
u can also pop in a cd for you to sleep to,
always check to c if your door locked
u can install an alarm system in your house to feel more secure
you can buy a guarddog
put a sign infront of your house that says
'beware of dog'
keep your front porch light on at night

Leave a light on with a 25 watt light bulb and may play some real soft music. Thats what I do and I also cuddle my cat. She is a lot of comfort to me.

you're married? and you are afraid of the dark, or to sleep alone? you need to see a doctor about this and get some help on those issues.
As for the actual problem you're having, you might want to just keep a lamp on, or the television on and maybe make sure you're asleep by the time he leaves?
