Giftcards are always good. If you know that they are interested in something (electronics-Best Buy, books- Barnes and Noble, etc) or you can get those general "mall" giftcards. You can also put whatever amount you want to, and you don't have to worry about finding something they may not like.

gift exchanges at the office are so confusing and such a pain. I always give them a starbucks giftcard, and every colleague that I have given them to are usually very happy with them. That way they can get something useful, because really what kind of quality gift can you get nowadays for 15 bucks.

Blockbuster gift card, gloves and/or scarf to match her coat,[try Wal-mart for that, decent quality, little price]. Her favorite candy, holiday decorations, a hostess gift like a tea towel set, homemade candy or cookies, gift card to her favorite restaurant or fast food.

What I always get for people who I don't really know to well is a gift certificate the the nearest movie theater.

Candles are usually a safe choice. Otherwise gift certificates to a favorite eating place, theater.

Bath gel, body lotion and body spalsh from Bath and Body Works - you can usually get all 3 for about $15.

a bible. new king James with her name on front would be a good starter...now you can get them on sale for Christmas..this will help also they will put her name on front of it in gold...love Jesus freak
