You think he's a great coach, person, motivator? Would you play for him or let your kids play for him? Would you label him as one of the top 5 coaches of all time in NCAA basketball?

Excellent teacher, great basketball mind, and "Xs" and "Os" guy.
However, he's a poor motivator. Intimidation and physical abuse are not hallmarks of a good coach. Does Coach K ever get close to this? Wooden? Smith? Hardly. There is class in restraint under durress.
He would be in the Top 10, based on his W-L record, but not a Top 5.
His legacy is tainted with childish behavior, poor decisions, and his own ginormous ego.

If I had kids, I wouldn't want them ANYWHERE near him. I think as he is a poor excuse of a human being. I used to work at Indiana University where he coached ( as I am sure you know) as well as every summer they held the "Bob Knight basketball camp" where for 2 weeks kids from...I believe age 5 thru teen-age
could meet him and learn from him. A friend sent her 8 yr old and said it was the biggest disapointment/waste of money. The boys saw Bob Knight once, at which time he cussed at, and belittled them. I also don't think much of him as a person.....I will try to keep it short and state ....NO... I PERSONALLY don't think he is a great ANYTHING!!!
His winning numbers as a coach do not impress me, as they may some......I believe if you have to be abusive to be a motivator, that doesn't say much for you as a person....does this sound like a winner to you? I doesn't in my book.

A great coach, a tough teacher, well respected by both his fellow coaches and the majority of his ex-players. But somehow, Knight just ain't right - too volatile, too angry.

he has good coaching abilities however his conduct and character are suspect. I'm surprised Tech gave him a shot.
