I think that the only decent dollar store is the dollar tree. Every other one I've been in has been cheesy. So I would definately stay away from that. I would call it something like Stuff-n-Such or something that. But yeah, change the name.

If you try to please everyone, you won't please yourself.
Really look at what you sell....and think about a name that would best convey the type and quality of products you carry. Do a small in store survey (just a few questions about what people think when they hear certain words....dollar, budget, discount, and include any words you have considered using in your name) to help you eliminate words or phrases that have a negative connotation. Be wary of using your location (street or city name, etc.) in your name, unless you are sure you aren't going to move any time soon. Make use of a theasarus to find unique descriptive words instead of using the same tired old phrases.
Once you come up with a name you think you like, don't just rush out and change it. Say it out loud a few times. Pretend you are answering the phone. Is it difficult to say quickly, or will the words run together too much? Is there too much illiteration, or not enough? Write it down, see how it will look on signage or business cards. Look at your local phone directory....where will your business name put you in the listings, and is there another similar name that could cause confusion for your customers?
Best of luck to you..

A reverse cell phone lookup service I have used is http://reversephone.toptips.org
Enter the number in the system and they will tell you a lot of informations about the phone number and the person who owns it.
If they have extra details you will have to pay for the report.
Free reverse phone lookup sites generally don't provide anything interesting. To get further information, money will have to be paid. The free searches do not provide much more than what can be found through the phone book.
The best thing is that you can get informations about anyone!!

i would stay with the original name[or current name] and just advertise far more. get some repeat customers that can really 'word of mouth' advertise for you to. and no shame in word of mouthing your own business in a gas station either.

The customer may be right but people are usually wrong. Even on answers you can say something so direct and think you will get a thumbs down and get best answer. Then you can say something simple about compassion and open mindedness and get thumbs down, so who knows. Just do what you know to be right.

Well, you know what they say, "you can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time". Find one name that has worked/works and stick with it, and to hell with the detractors.
