Is it true they are forced to be on the jury and get paid almost nothing. What if they make a decent amount of money and are stuck with a 6 month case? Do they go into bankruptcy cause can't pay bills?

If its true, I find it interesting that they are forced to get paid nothing. But the lawyers, judges, etc get paid and live a life of luxury, including mahogony office, wood paneling, etc. Something not right there.

Most employers pay their employees their salary while they are in jury duty, no matter how long. However, there is no law requiring them to do so. It is seen as doing your civil duty. The money they pay is not to replace income, but for costs (such as gas and lunch) associated with jury duty.

Most of the time if it is a long trial, the court will ask if it is going to be a great imposition for the person to serve. if they find you have a valid reason, they usually dismiss you.

Jurists are protected form the things you describe. They don't pluck you out of society for 6 months and throw you back after the trial is over. Your looking for a problem that doesn't exist. If economic hardship occurs you can be excused from a jury.

I really wouldn't know. Due to a wild stage in my late teens, I'm a convicted felon, so therefore I am permanently exempt from jury duty.
Yea!

Make sure that you don't get chosen.
