I quit my job when I was 8 weeks pregnant with my 1st baby because I was so exhausted. My OB said it was pretty normal & he was not concerned. Although it can be a sign of animeia, which I have always had. With my second & now 3rd I have no clue how I would have worked & been mommy, butI stayed home after having my daughter so we just stay home & sleep till noon, luckily my kiddos sleep in with me,lol

I'm useless for the first trimester with all of my pregnancies (in first tri with third baby now). There is no way I could hold a job with morning sickness ... but after that I'm perfectly fine.
I did a semester of college when I had my second baby. I was writing an english paper while in early labor. I only missed one week and earned A's in all of my classes. It was hard but possible with my husband's help. It was nice to have classes for the last month of my pregnancy instead of waiting around at home for the baby to come. So ... yeah. It just really depends on the person and the pregnancy.

If there is more than one in there I could see that being common. When carrying one, I was so tired in the first and third trimesters and in pain in the end of my second due to sciatica. I worked until I was 7 months pregnant because we moved but towards the end of my pregnancy I would not have been able to work even if I had a job.

I worked up until the day I went into labor. It was hard, especially those last weeks, but it was more time off I had with the baby when she was born. We only get 12 weeks off and I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. If she can afford to stay home, that's ideal. But if she'd depending on anyone other than her family, such as the taxpayers, then that isn't so ideal.

There's no such thing as "common" when it comes to pregnancy. Everyone is different. But her exhaustion sounds a bit extreme. A lot of women are tired in the first and third trimester, but get a lot of energy in the second. If she's extremely exhausted maybe she should discuss it with her doctor.

If you feel you can no longer work due to being pregnant, though lately bosses have been sacking women who are pregnant using the excuse "we don't need pregnant women working for us". Just like that. They get fired. What happened to having a choice.
Well our choice has been taken away from us my John Howard the Australian Prime Minster, with his new Workplace Laws giving bosses the right to sack pregnant women. Is that right, I don't think so.
