I have had a cone biopsy procedure done last week, one of the risks are incompetent cervix. I am 27, I want to have a baby with my husband and this may complicate that or make it impossible.

Has anyone here ever had this done and sucessfully had a child afterwards? I would greatly appreciate the feedback.

How long did it take to concieve?

What complications if any?

I have an incompetent cervix, and one thing that I want you to remember if nothing else you read on this subject..do NOT let the talk you into a vaginal cerclage for your pregnancy. PUSH PUSH PUSH for a TAC (Transabdominal Cerclage). I have lost two babies, the second one with a TVC (vaginal cerclage), and now I have the TAC placed pre-pregnancy. A cone biopsy can definitely cause you to have IC, but there are soooo many women who have had cone biopsies and went on to have children after that, but the only ones I know of that have successfull had them was with the TAC and not the TVC. It doesnt rule out the chances, just makes the baby that little bit more special! I work in a Neonatal unit and have delighted in some beautiful wee bundles who were born early but completely well due to this procedure. You can get a stitch put into the cervix once pregnant to keep it closed, this helps!

Good luck

I used to work with a lady who had a problem with her cervix being strong enough. It may be the same thing. I know she lost her son when she was 5 months pregnant. Her second and third pregnancies they put stitches in her cervix to help strengthen it. Then when she was about due they took the stitches out and let her proceed with normal deliveries. The girls would be about 15 and 13 now. I dont know about her conceiving time or any other complications.

Hope this helps.
