NEVER..
Only IT will never help India to become so called SUPER POWER.
Indians are giving their maximum effort than any other country in IT field but earning very less when compare to other countries without much effort.
Most important issue is that India is far behind in other fields. India can never be a super power without overall development in almost all areas it can. Politics is the biggest hurdle india need to cross to become the super power. But, definitely India has a capacity to become world's super power. From ages, Indians are proved to be much more intelligents than others. But IT can help us to earn money to invest in other fields.

IT will help India to become a major player, but not likely a superpower. The US is slowly learning that outsourcing IT functions to foreign lands is not a s beneficial in the long run compared with domestication. Dell, for one, is bringing IT back to the states after a stint in India. It seems to disenfranchise the consumer looking for help, an d the loss of jobs created by offshoring.

Yes, IT will help India become a Super Power.
But, IT alone will not help.
For a nation to grow what is needed is a overall development - a balanced development in all fields. What is happening in India is only a Unbalanced growth.
Nowadays, people opt only for engg keeping in mind the IT sector.
It is estimated that there will be 4 lakh fresh engineers (close to 75000 from Tamilnadu alone) passing out from next year, all over India. Wheras, the demand is only for 1.75 lakh fresh engineers. Where is the job for rest?
In case of other fields like Manufacturing, Automobile, Farming, Fisheries and many, many more there is shortage of supply (qualified candidates).
This is all because of Unbalanced growth in the society. That is definitely not the case in countries like China, Japan, Korea etc; which gives importance to all sectors.
India needs to broaden its vision. Then, we can aim of being a super power.

Not really,
While IT in India is one of the best in the wolrd.
Most talented leave To USA (brain drain theory)
Besides, India has too much poverty. Without effectively addressing this issue, Super Power status is out of the question

Countries need to be strong enough to protect themselves but being a superpower cost too much. If you look at history country after country have drained their resources to maintain their power, only to lose it in the end because their economies did not keep pace with the economic growth in other countries.
