There are people that commit suicide. what kind of problems lead them into that way? Everybody has up up and downs but they are still iving their life. Should be a serious traumatise? In other countries, people are starving, are sold by parents as prostitute at a very young age, sleep in from of a manufacters cuz they don't have a home and it is the place hey work, have home destroyed. I consider that this is serious enough. I think that children here are spoiled...this is just my opinion. They all have the basic needs. Yes I also wanted to kill myself for some stupid reason but grabed myself and live with it. I met a person at my school and she lost her legs, and her parents killed cuz of car accident. she's strong than ever. Parents who are commit sexual abuse over their own children. That I know has asked for help, and lives with another family. what else can be worse than that?

Depression is a chemical imbalance. Boy, do I know. All of my adult life I battled depression and could not get help. A couple of years ago, the depression hit its peak and I prayed for death. One day coming home from church, I had decided to take all of my meds and just end it all.My heart was broke and the tears were flowing by the time I reached home. The Lord had reminded me "Thou shalt not kill." My heart was crushed and I cried hard for two weeks. Thank God, I found a great social worker who came to my house and a shrink who was able to do something no other psychiatrist had been able to do, he gave me the meds that filled my needs. These meds even helped me to quit smoking. In other words, if you come across somebody who wants to do suicide, love them and help them to find help. I have fms/cfs and a few other things. If you want to e-mail me, grannywinkie@yahoo.com. Put fms on subject so I do not mark it as spam. I did fight meds for 15 years and had no choice to use them along with injections. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

This can be a very tricky question. The reason I say this is because unless you have been there, you don't know what it's like! A little over a month ago I tried to committ suicide. I have been depressed pretty much since adolesence but this was unlike anything I have ever experienced before. For the 2 months leading up to this, I had been high as a kite on life. Nothing bothered me, I was invinsible. I am married but I cheated on my husband. I started missing work etc etc. Nov 11th, I came down from my high and I slipped into a deep dark hole. I have 2 children also. Those 2 kids mean the world to me but at that time, all I could think was that they would be much better off without me. I took 3 bottles of pills with no intentions of ever waking up. At the time, thats what I wanted. Obviously, thats not what happened. I was treated at the local hospital then committed to a mental hospital for 72 hours. Then I had to complete a inpatient hospital therapy group for 3 weeks. For the last 4 weeks all I have done is eat sleep and breath therapy. I was diagnosed Bipolar Type 1. It had been missed for the past 20 years. It is hereditary also. My mother had it, I have it and now I am afraid my daughter has it. She has an appointment next week for an evaluation. I do not want her going thru what I had to. I am on regular medication now and alot of it, but I am better and now I look forward to living my life. My children are happier, I am healthier and my marriage is being put back together. Mood disorders are very serious and unless treated they can lead to death and distruction in one form or another. If you or someone you kow is depressed, don't wait...get help!

So you didnt commit suicide and lived to tell us about it. Are you asking out of compassion? Do you want to help someone? Sounds more very judgemental and wow, how superior you are that you didnt go through with it.
Some people are predisposed to suicide.
However, I think your overall point is of the spoiled little American who lives a pampered life and gee, didnt get what they wanted and ended their life.
I imagine if a smile is recognized all over the world, which it is, and transcends language barriers, cultural barriers and all other barriers to be recognized for what it is, then there must be more human elements that are also experienced common to all. And so you do have the stats of these poorer countries as to the few number of suicides? I mean with this age of information, you do have all the up to the minute news about this, right?
Let me turn your question around.
Why dont those parents get a real job and quit selling their children? Why is that government allowing its people to sleep in manufacturing plants instead of houses or apartments? For goodness sake, isnt there any common decency or respect for human beings in those places? I think those citizens are stupid for putting up with that....this is just my opinion. They should demand proper housing. They should vote those leaders out of office!
Do you see how stupid that sounds? Crass? Uncaring? Judgemental?
Do one of two things. Go to school, and since you said "here" I imagine you are in the U.S., so please, yes, get an education and let US pick up the tab, get your degree in social work and then when you get a client you can shame them into wanting to live by screaming at them for all they have to live for. Or do this. Shut up.

Well, you have to realize that it's an illness, every bit as serious as cancer is. People who commit suicide feel that's the only way for them to escape whatever pain they are dealing with in their lives. I've had a good friend tell me that it was literally almost too painful, physically painful, to breathe anymore. To judge those who are in desperate need of help by thinking that they're spoiled, and don't really understand hardship is rather crass, in my opinion. There's a saying, you can't understand someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes, in your case honey, you might try 2. Please try to develop a little compassion for those less fortunate than you, and be thankful you don't deal with the things that they deal with. What's probably a piece of cake for you, may be the most difficult thing in the world for someone else.

You obviously have not been afflicted with a mind disease such as depression, manic-depression, obsessive compulsive, borderline personality, schizophrenia and many other disorders.
People that are abused in some way do want to die. We think about how it would take away the pain that we feel and have endured due to some stupid stranger or demented family member. It is all types of abuse.

Because of that abuse our skills of relating, socialization, anger, communication, feeling our own emotions, etc are all affected a great many ways. We lose kids,bf/gf, marriages, jobs, friends. the list is endless.

I think suicide is mostly based on feeling attached to other people. People can go through some amazingly horrible things. And I think they have much more ability to endure if they have others there they can count on for mutual support.
I think this mutual sensual / emotional support is severly lacking in America; and is the basis of our suicide problems.

Sometimes people feel very depressed. Most adults who commit suicide are mentally ill. Most teenagers who do it want to end emotional pain and haven't lived long enough to realize that everything will subside and that the problem will eventually fade.

To them it stops the continual perceived pain, and is easier than living, and the hopeless pit they cannot find a way out of. It is an extremely selfish act (unless it's purpose is to save another/life insurance scam/to stop applying pain to someone they deeply care about).

Suicide is the easy way out, People who commit suicide think that if they do this its the only way they are going to get away from reality. they dont care who its going to hurt or effect. There really is no reason for commiting suicide, its just for the weak.

Because life is made too easy for children today. They dont need to work or earn anything. Thus they have no strong appreciation of anything. The total outcome is they''ve never learned how to cope with anything...because they've never had to. So sorry to say that I see this with my own grand children.
