Every woman is completely different, and every pregnancy she has is different, so what's normal for one person may be abnormal for someone else. Your weight prior to being pregnant also has a bearing on how much weight you gain. Personally, I started out my first pregnancy at an average weight and gained 27 pounds when I was pregnant with my son ( 2 years ago). But have only gained a total of 4 pounds with this pregnancy (again I started out at a normal weight). I'm actually due to deliver my daughter in just 4 weeks, so I suspect that my weight won't vary much between now and then. Especially since most women stop gaining weight during the last few weeks of pregnancy.
By contrast, I have a good friend who gained 80 pounds with her first pregnancy and 55 with her second. Obviously, this is considerably more than my weight gain and exceeds what most pregnancy resources will tell you is the optimal weight gain, however Iher doctor was not concerned because both she and the baby were otherwise healthy.
At the other extreme, my mother actually weighed 19 pounds less when she delivered me than she did the day she found out she was pregnant. Several months of morning sickness took a big toll on her!

Im due in a month and have not gained 'weight' at all. Maybe a about 5 lbs or so. It comes and goes. Right now Im at 188 lbs which is pretty close to what I was before I got pregnant. I talked to my doctor about this today and she said it can happen when you have some extra weight to begin with. She said my belly is growing fine and baby is fine. (I guess my hips & butt must be getting smaller)
I have an overweight friend who had four kids and she said she actualy lost weight during her last two pregnancies. All her kids were healthy.
I have a classic 'marilyn monroe' curvey figure and wear my weight well, and even at 180 lbs I dont look more than 150...soooo Im looking forward to having this baby and being slimmer than I have been in years!
Im glad it worked out this way because with my 1st two kids I gained 50 during the pregnancies and had 30 extra hanging around afterwards (thats how I got up to the 180 lb range)

Depends on how much weight you have on you to begin with. If you are obese, you might not put on any weight. If you are very thin, they usually say 30 lbs or so. The average is about 20-25 lbs. I gained 37 with my daughter and because of severe sickness and losing weight, I'm now only 4 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight at 29 weeks. Not ideal, but with my nausea continuing, it's hard to put weight on over the lost weight I've gained back. Are you asking this because you'd like to control how much weight you gain? If you are an active person, you can continue most exercise to help keep you toned, but you do need to put on weight. The baby needs this weight to sustain growth. Eat a good healthy diet, exercise through your pregnancy, and your body will have a much easier time bouncing back afterward. Also, consider breastfeeding, as many mothers report having an easier time losing weight after the baby is born if they breastfeed.

With my first pregnancy I gained like 20 lbs. but my second I gained 8 lbs. the whole pregnancy and lost 25 lbs after I had the baby. But weight doesn't really matter, just eat right and focus on eating healthy for you and the baby not what kind of weight you are putting on. Remember it can all be taken off after the baby is born.

I'm only at 24 weeks but I've actually lost about 10 lbs since I found out I was pregnant. I eat pleanty and I'm in good health (as is my baby) so I'm not really sure what's going on. My doc said he won't worry about it until the 3rd trimester. Most of my friends have gained anywhere from 30-80! lbs. The smaller you are, the more you usually gain.

I only had one kid but I gained 22 pounds and had an 8 pound baby, and that's the smallest amount of anyone I've talked to. (started at 120, weighed 142 at term) I hope that is what you meant to ask about?
