Is the watch a status symbol or a time piece? A piece of jewelry or a time piece? A symbol of love and commitment or a time piece?

Personally, I find Timex to be a stylish, reliable watch at the cost of $30 to $40. And my questions are not meant to be offensive. I mean only to point out that it is a gift but what is the purpose?

I think, in your case, assuming you stayed within your budget, that a $70 watch is probably a very nice, thoughtful gift for your boyfriend.

Peace.

Its all relative.

$70 is a lot more money to someone who makes minimum wage or is a single parent than to someone who is financially "comfortable". Some people who are quite comfortable may say it is too much anyway, yet in some circles wearing a "cheap" watch could make you the object of ridicule. It all depends on your income, your expected level of professional/social dress, and what kind of watch it is. $70 for a Rollex means someone somewhere is being cheated, and it is probably you.

If you work in a chemical lab setting I would not recommend wearing a watch at all as chemical residues in the air will shorten the life expectancy of the watch. Likewise for many other situations.

Depends on the watch. $70 for a guess watch seems reasonable.

Well Guess is a expensive name brand, i don't think they even sell there jeans for less than $70 bucks for the cheapest pair, so if you can get a Guess watch for $70 bucks thats a bargan and if it was me buying the watch i would get it in a heart beat.

That's not too much or too little. It's a watch and I'm guessing that he will like it very much because it came from you. happy holidays

too much all you need is something to tell time. that's what a watch supposed to do. numbers and hands. everything else is jst uncalled for.
you can get a good watch(tells time) for like $20.

But I love cool expensive watches. They look great. so that's why I buy them.

For guess, a bit too much. But it is the thought that matters. You must really care about him

Well...converting to my country's currency, yeah...kinda. Not if it's a nice branded watch that will last really long though...but then, in your country, is $70 a lot? o.O

It really depends on what your budget is, and whether or not you are willing to spend that much on a watch. If he's worth it, then the watch is worth it. But if you're overextending yourself just to make him happy, and he's not worth it, then it's not worth it to spend that much on a watch. It's really your decision, and you are the only one who can make it....
