There are many reasons why a baby might not be carried to term besides abortion. I don't see anything wrong with preserving an unborn fetus for scientific study, if it's done with respect, the same way adult cadavers are preserved for study. However I have seen a fetus in a jar and I did find it disturbing- not morally wrong but just disturbing. I think it's a natural human reaction. Some of us react emotionally more than others. Since it bothers you so much you probably shouldn't become a doctor or medical scientist.

My friend is the dean of science at a high school in NY. She found a couple of these among some old supplies while cleaning out the store room at the end of the year. I'm pretty sure that they arent allowed to use them anymore anyway, so why not do what my friend did - she purchased a burial plot for them and had a funeral and burial service. Babies shouldnt be kept in jars or thrown away like garbage, so this is the only option, in my mind. I agree with you, this situation upset my friend greatly, and it upset me just hearing about it. I can imagine how you felt.

well of course if you're against abortion you would think it's wrong. even if you're pro-choice though, it is usually pretty disturbing to the average person. But scientifically talking, it could be useful although it should only be in medical schools. I mean, future doctors HAVE to have experience with the real thing before they go into residency. To be a doctor, you have to operate on a dead body to graduate from med school! Is that wrong? sure it seems freaky at first, but if you think about it don't you want the doctor who knows what he/she is doing? of course! sooo i think if it goes to the greater good (like better doctors) it's not wrong. but if it's just on display in a high school biology class, it's not necessary and thus wrong.

I know. I remember that from when I was in school. It was the first time I knew anything about abortion - and they were illegal when that happened to me. I cried and cried and so did a couple of the other girls and a couple of the guys had tears in their eyes, too (dust you understand). I think it is wrong because there is nothing to be learned from looking at the real thing that you couldn't learn from a graphic on a computer screen.

you make me disgusted and heartbroken. the worst thing i have been through (and that is a lot) was seeing my baby when i miscarried later on in pregnancy, i have no idea why you would want to keep your unborn child after killing it. no they would not let you. in fact they probably wouldnt think you were in a mentally stable position to have an abortion anyway.

That is the sickest thing I have read tonight. Who is this insane person? If it were me I would report then to the law, and see if they could be put in jail.

It's not much different than being put in products, like products for wrinkles. I don't believe in abortion so I think all of it is wrong.
