I have to agree with GRACO, it is not heavy to carry arround, and it has a head support thingy that helps a lot. Before buying one check their website. I have also heard that EVENFLO carries good ones too.... compare them and see which one fits your needs better.

Britax are the best, but super spendy. Radian are another high-end maker of car seats. They offer seats with sturdy metal frames, thicker strap materials and seats that harness from 5 to 65 pounds!
Any rear-facing seat on the market is safe. Buy new, as you never know the history of a used seat. Convertibles are nicer than buckets because you can use them for a lot longer and they rear-face until 30-35 pounds, which is much safer for the neck and spine of an infant and toddler.

It depends on you and your child.
Personally I would purchase a convertible car seats since they allow rear facing up to 35 pounds which is what you really need. The new rule is 12 months AND 20 pounds to go forward facing. I got 4 months of use with the infant car seat with my 1st child and with my 2nd I used a convertible right away. Look for the features that YOU like the ones that are important to YOU. Get one that YOU can easily install. The Alpha Omega has a recliner which the Britax doesn't have which is beneficial when your little one falls asleep or is to little. The Britax Marathon holds children up to 65 pounds in a 5pt harness which is a good bang for your buck but it doesn't have the recliner feature (which was important to me) Side impact is another feature I looked into. Go to babies are us and look around and try them out.

I personally used and loved the Evenflo infant carriers. They haven't had recalls or problems with the handle becoming unlocked while you are carrying the baby. They also come with a base to attach to your back seat which allows easy in and outs. I highly recommend it!

Graco the one that has the attachment for the car so all you have to do is click the car seat in it and unlatch it to take the carrier out. Graco has the best products for transporting babies
