i used to have a friend like that, she lied about stupid little things and tried to make me jealous to. I known her for yr's, i ended the friendship it just got to much. she was fun to be around thats what made it hard, if only she stopped the lieing, but they wont so i would say break it off before she hurts u to much. its hard but its really the only thing to do...

Like your name"talk is cheap". Don't let her affect you.She is insecure and feels the need to be better than you. It is not normal but it is psychological.
Don't feed her insecurities. If you have something don't flaunt it so much! Now if is not expensive share it with her. She will forever feel a loser if she sees your life getting better and better. And if you're a true friend you don't want her to feel that way. A lot of people turn out that way and we can't tell where it is coming from either a broken family, unhappy childhood etc.
Now her lying must have been ingrained already on her- not just because of her insecurity towards you- but coz of constancy. You have to make her aware that you know, and she might get into trouble for doing it. If you care her for her make her change.
She is your childhood friend and the better reason for you to keep her. Next time she lies and makes you feel jealous pretend and OVERREACT that you do feel jealous. She will get the drift and probably stop.

I think the best thing for you to do is to confront her and let her know that she doesnt have to compete with you. Let her know that you will love her no matter what. She may think she needs to compete with you and has to lie to make herself feel better and she prob thinks you wont like her. Let her know that you will be her friend no matter what. If she denies she lies she is prob upset you caught onto her and if this happens just go along with her. She will come along when she wants just try not to believe her if she continues to lie if you know they are not true. Good luck sweetie. Hope everything works out

I suggest talking to her because you sound like you 2 have a close friendship not worth throwing away. and if you be completely honest with her you will probably find out that she is a little jealous of you. generally all friends are. most people that have close friend look up to them and want to be like them, which is why they stick by them i spose. but hang in there talk to her and you will prob work everything out!
keep smiling!
