the word PERCEPTION has three usages :
1 Someone who has perception has the ability to realize or notice things that are not obvious to other people. Example - He was surprised by the quickness of her perception.
2 A perception is a belief or opinion that you have as a result of realizing or noticing something, especially something which is perhaps not obvious to other people. Example - Picasso found a way of meaningfully representing his perceptions and experiences through his painting.
3 Perception is the awareness of things that you have by means of your senses. Example - ... visual perception

The Meaning of Perception
Perceptions vary from person to person. Different people perceive different things about the same situation. But more than that, we assign different meanings to what we perceive. And the meanings might change for a certain person. One might change one's perspective or simply make things mean something else.

Perception is like point of view, or how someone sees something. If you and your friend get in a fight, your perception of why it started may be very differetn from your friend's.

In everyday practice "perception" means idea or thinking of some certain object or process (i.e. the way someone understands it). It is also used to indicate the process of acquiring such thinking or knowledge.
