It depends on how long you have felt like this. Many people especially young people fear the hospital. Sometimes this actually helps they have group therapy and one on one counselors. Maybe you should start by seeing your doctor or talking with a friend or a parent. There are also support groups out there my son goes to one. If you look on here there are a lot of depressed people just like you. sometimes it is something we cannot help and we need to get on the right medications. Best of luck to you please know you are not alone in this.

Forget that suicide thoughts is different from suicide plans. No one is going to ask you if have a plan. If you show that you are thinking about it, doctors will get your help. Mental hospitals are not always bad. Many people go there (and even check themselves in) to prevent something from happening. Meaning that someone might enter if they are really depressed and are really considering suicide. Many people who have suicide thoughts do not have plans and still commit suicide. Doctors are there to help you and are not going to think you are crazy.

I would take to your doctor. i have worked in a pharmacy and there are more that many medications out there for depression. Medications do not heal you, but they do make it feel like a ton of weight is lifted off your shoulder. You will notice a change if you keep using them. You can also see a therapist to talk to and get your feelings out. If that is too personal, keeping a journal is also very therpatic.

Good luck and I really think that you should take precautions before something bad happens.

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.

Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

Depression Free Method?

If there is a suicide hotline in your area you can call it free of charge and talk to a counselor. Get out of the house and go do somthing you enjoy. Go for a walk, a movie, listen to uplifting or soothing music. Turn off the news..You are more valuable than you have talked yourself into believing. Everytime you have those thoughts, change the topic in your mind and tell yourself how wonderful you are. Please seek counsel in a professional counselor, minister, rabbi or a friend you can trust. I hope that i have been of some help.

I had a few VERY tough years when I was younger, and often thought of suicide. What helped me was to talk to a complete stranger about my problems. I went to a small church and talked to the priest (I do not EVER go to church, nor am I sure I believe in God). It was very comforting to find someone that didn't even know my name that cared about how I was feeling and wanted to help me. Just the fact that there are people out there like that is enough to get me out of a funk now adays.
If you really want help, there is plenty around you, you just have to ask for it.
Good luck.

Suicide THOUGHTS are different than suicide PLANS. The way to avoid the hospital is to NOT make suicidal threats. You are asked, "Do you have a plan?" If you have an actual plan you would be deemed a threat to your own safety and a 72 hour monitoring period would be seen as necessary. To avoid the detention, simply find a psychiatrist to treat the depressive symptoms but do not make any suicidal threats.

Peace.

You you don't have to go to a mental hospital at all, only you may end up there if you don't seek help.
Go to a counselor or a psychiatrist. They can easily give you the help you need and I'm sure you won't need to be hospitalized.
Don't be afraid to help yourself, I'm sure you want to stop suffering.

talk to your gp , he may refer you to a psych , but don't be scared , it's all help , you may need pills for a while, if the gp psych makes any reference to a community centre with day programs etc: go for it ,it'll get you up and outa the house & meeting people wth a common struggle
( the comminity centre i was involved with had a weeklywoodwork program and really cheap ten pin bowling trips once a month)
if you can , do some swimming , i find it a real pick me up.
hope this helps

go to church. Read your bible, establish the most important relationship you will ever have in your life... Accept Jesus, Christ as your lord and saviour and God will take care of the rest. He will send the right mental health practitioner to help you with your issues.
