Asfaloth is the horse ridden by Glorfindel when he meets Strider and the Hobbits shortly before they arrive at Rivendell. Asfaloth carries Frodo alone to the Ford of Bruinen.

In Peter Jackson's film version, Glorfindel's role was given to Arwen, who took Frodo herself to the Ford. This represents an attempt to give Arwen more screentime.

'Ride on! Ride on!' cried Glorfindel, and then loud and clear he called to the horse in the elf-tongue: noro lim, noro lim, Asfaloth!" (Sindarin for 'run faster').
--The Fellowship of the Ring, "Flight to the Ford"

Asfaloth is played by a grey Andalusian stallion named Florian in the Peter Jackson films. Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn, was so impressed by the performance of the stuntwoman who was Arwen's riding double that he later purchased Florian and gave him to her.

Asfaloth. And if you don't believe me check the book. the horse's name is Asfaloth. But not Arwen is riding the horse, but an elf called Glorfindel. Arwen in the movie and Glorfindel in the book says to the horse: Noro lim, Asfaloth! which means ride hard or ride on Asfaloth
