I generally have the same problem. Starting a chore to not complete.
I read a article in homes and gardens that I found to be suffice to help with this complex.
I bought some cheap articles to redecorate my home, and even found a hobby to create things for my house. After I bought these items I envisioned the finish look, and became excited for the changes that would be made.
I first started with the bathroom. I bought a new bathroom set changed the towels, and updated some of the items in the bathroom.
I then went to Value City and bought some beautiful throw pillows, and a new rug, and I could not wait to finish the job.
Once you make these little upgrades/changes. You will want to always want to see the clean look, and you make the time to finish cleaning, and even start making others clean up behind themselves.

Before I had kids (theyre still little) the best way to get me going cleaning was to put on some music I liked a lot, or a new CD that I thought I would like, turn it up a bit louder, and just get going. I found it really hard to start, but with the music going you might find that you ride out the chores without noticing it being monotonous. These days, I don't get to listen to much grown up music, although I quite like the Wiggles, but if you have the apartment to yourself, or get a girlfriend over, the music idea is fun.

Practice minimalism. The more junque you have the more you have to clean on, under and around. Tend to your own slip stream as soon as you are finished...you got it out...you put it away. I always dust and vacuum Thursday evening when I work or Friday when I don't...the house is ready for that unexpected week-end visitor in their white gloves.

I make cleaning fun by rearranging the furniture at the same time. It gives me motivation and new perspective.

Go to craigslist.com and post an ad that you are looking for somebody to do cleaning for $10/hour cash, no taxes. Then, hire somebody. It works great!
