Mathematically, it makes sense to split it in thirds. But then you get peoples feelings and opinions involved and it will inevitabley screw things all up. Good luck and thank your husband for me.

I think it should be based on the size of the space if the roomates are single. When I was in college, I had 3 roomates. The one who has the biggest room and closets paid the most. I was in the middle. The guy with the worst room paid even less. BUT, if the husband is there to stay, there should be an extra charge for use of bathroom, kitchen, social space. I think you should pay one third of the rent.

I had the same issue -- my bf and i had the large room - walking closet and i used most of the living room up as well -- our roommate came up with that he would pay $500 and my bf and I would pay $700 -- that is what he thought was fair and it worked out -- the bills we always split by 3rds - unless one of us used long distance on the phone -- it is a lot of planning but it can work out...

You have to do what ever the lease says otherwise since you are moving into their apartment then you need to pay at least thirds if not more because of the inconvenience of it all

i think it's more fair to split into 3. by the way, have you thought of moving out or find another roomate, coz it doesn't sound very convenient living with a couple. gd luck.

I think 1/3 rent is fair- but I also think that you should find your own housing- you know the " two's company- three's a crowd" saying. Well it describes your situation. Good luck, also thanks for what your spouse is doing for our country, a real hero to me.

it's cheaper and easier. take the total of your rent and maybe throw in the total of your monthly bill. divide it by three.
its not unfair to help, why should someone have to pay for everything, and some none?
and that's not fair.
