birth control does not cause permanent infertility, it just keeps mature eggs from being released and fertilized. it depends on which kind of birth control you use as to how long it is effective.

Birth control pills fool your body into thinking it is pregnant thereby stopping ovulation...egg production.
When you stop the pills then your eggs stop dropping again after a few months.
Barrier methods of birth control simply stop the egg and sperm from meeting. Thereby no impact on fertility.

So infertility isn't usually from birth control -- even though you don't specify whether you are talking about male or female infertiility or what type of birth control......

The Pill actually helps with fertility after you go off of it because it teaches your body how to work properly if you have been irregular. My Gyn told me this when I first went on them.

no not at all..........
they just decrease the level of estrogen in the body .........estrogen is a harmone found in women which helps in the ovulation process of the women .........so these pills just minimises the risk of gettin preganant only for a temperpory period of time .........
so there is no fear of gettin impotent or infertile....
