I think its after 3 weeks you have a serious disorder. I remember seeing this guy that has had the hiccups for like 3 years. But a spoon of sugar usually works for me :).

Hi, check out the link - http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hiccups/AN01249.

According to me the best remedy for hiccups is - Fill your mouth with water, lower your head & touch your neck with your chin AND then swallow water slowly. I've never seen hiccups persist after that! :)

A heaping teaspoon of sugar, slowly dissolved in the mouth. No talking or swallowing the sugar quickly, you must let it slowly dissolve. When it does, the hiccups are gone. This as always worked for me and my family. I hope it helps you.

Deep, controlled breathing is the most effective. But if it keeps up much longer, he should see a doc. There could be damage or obstruction to the vagus nerve. (It controls the diaphragm.) Spontaneous nerve damage is usually a sign of a serious problem.

Hiccups is caused by the diaphram. I cant spell it, but that's what my dad says. My solution is, hold his breathe while drinking water, or any kind of liquid. Leave it alone. Dont burp or anything after, or its just going to continue. That's what always uncures it for me. Burping...
