I won't rank them, but I'd say UT-Austin, Trinity, and Rice are three of the best. If you could be more specific about what you're looking for that would help. Also are you a Texas resident or out-of-state?
Re: Jek's post below -- one thing to be careful with about US News is that there are different categories in the rankings for different categories of schools. The list there is for national universities that grant Ph.Ds. Universities that only grant degrees to the Master's level are on another list (and grouped regionally on that list). Liberal arts colleges are listed on still another list -- on that list you'll see schools like Amherst, Swarthmore, and Middlebury (not that they are in Texas, but a school like Southwestern would be). So just be careful with US News before you say, "school X is not listed, therefore they must be no good!"
