I want to buy one of those small Sandisk mp3 players but they say it isn't supported by Mac OS. Doesn't make sense to me. I can see Itunes not supporting but can't you just transfer the mp3s to it like data? Thanks

Mac regognizes all USB MP3 players. But you can see iPod in iTunes, the other players cannot be seen in iTunes. But you can see them as a removable disk on the desktop. I have a Minton MP3 player and happy with it...

If the song transfer method is simply copying your music files to it like to a hard/flash drive, then it's more or less "Macintosh Compatible" in that respect.

However be forewarned that if the player requires some kind of firmware update (either for upgrade or regular maintenance,) the manufacturer might not provide OS X compatible software, (even if they do claim Macintosh compatibility.)

mac will recognize anything thats made to recognize it. a lot of companies dont bother to make their MP3 players Mac compatible because most people who have Macs get ipods and it would be a waste of money (in their eyes) to add on that feature to them. some other brands may be Mac compatible though. good luck
