I remember a Christmas that I had asked my mom if I could have the horse she had bought. She didn't want to give him to me because she wasn't sure he was going to make it through winter " we have a rescue ranch." Well Christmas eve came and my sister got sick and had to go to the hospital so I went and slept in her room that night to make sure she was ok when she got home. In the morning we all woke up and opened our presents. I was disappointed because nothing was said about Sham "the horse." Finally mom said lets go feed the horses I told her I didn't want to I wanted to stay home to play. Then she told me well you need to go feed your horses. I couldn't put a bow on him like I wanted to because of your sister going to the hospital but hes yours. I was so lucky to have my own horse but more lucky because he was the best friend in the world. That present will never be topped.

Taking my Daughters to a Motel for the Holiday weekend and having to "sneak" all the decorations, tree, and gifts into the room while they slept so Santa could "visit" They wanted to spend the weekend in a Motel and go swimming(we lived in Midwest and it was snowing),so I made reservations for the Motel in Oct,(that is when they told me what they wanted more than anything from Santa that year)and we went to the Motel. They were just over 5yrs old. I never laughed so much in my life as when they opened their eyes and the room looked like a Winter Wonderland with Lights and Decorations and Tree all lit up and all the Toys surrounding their bed......It was a priceless Christmas Memory

All five of us kids tumbled into one bed, trying to fall asleep so that Santa would come.
Every Christmas Eve, tasting the "candy" ornaments while decorating the tree.
Listening to my mom read, "A Visit from St. Nick."
Rushing around, helping my parents make hot chocolate because the carolers were coming!

A cute little village with Victorian-style people, but it was made of cardstock material so we don't have it anymore. The movie "Mr. Krueger's Christmas" with Jimmy Stewart in it directing the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Making sugar cookies and getting tired at the end so that we ended up just eating the rest of the cookie dough.

The crazy things family do when they get together and how there is always one person the adults wish wouldn't show up but the kids always enjoyed their company. The big feast and the long talks around the table for women and the outside for the men (as a child you could get wise beyond your years just listening when no one knew you were) I always cleaned up , and of course the presents that was grand

Christmas interior the yankee Midwest for the duration of and accurate after WWII replaced right into slightly sparse with techniques from right now's Christmases. i replaced into quite little, yet I save in ideas maximum replaced into the Christmas tree with glass adorns, an the tin icicles. At nighttime in that previous farmhouse the french doorways between the residing room and the eating room were closed to guard warmth from the coal furnace. because the grate replaced into interior the eating room, that replaced into the position we accrued to study, learn, and play board video games. That meant Santa had to fumble round interior the darkish interior the residing room on Christmas eve putting elements lower than the tree. i comprehend because I heard him. Too undesirable dad continuously replaced into out checking the barn animals and ignored him. each and each and every time! LOL. mom made the perfect brownies, cookies and sweet. Molasses taffy replaced into large and candied or molasses popcorn balls, mince pie, and pumpkin bread and gingerbread, fudge and divinity sweet. And julecake. Braided bread loaves with rasians, cardamom and candied fruit. continuously had socks with an orange, apple. walnuts, and deep interior the toe a silver quarter.

everything...the lights on the tree..the special christmas cookies my Mom baked and the poppy seed bread and pitahi that she made. Food was BIG...Now the odd memories were when I sat by the tree when no one was around and pressed the little wax ornaments against the hot lights to see them melt...I always felt a little bad that I kinda ruined them...but no one complained....I also remember staying up to see santa fill my stocking which hung on my door..it felt like I was up all night, but I must have fallen asleep

The smell of Scotch Tape. That, and the constant butterflies in my stomach from being so anxious during the weeks leading up to Christmas!

It's a mishmash, but just being a kid and having the perspective of a child. Remembering the feeling of being a child, and how much fun it was- it was skewed and unrealistic, but boy, was it magical.
