The use of tampons is a convenience for sure. The odor of using a pad can be embarrassing for some of us......
I would use a "pad" at night when I wouldn't have to suffer the bulky pad during the day.
To correctly use a tampon? Buy the "Slender" ones ONLY. TSS is less likely. Super absorbant means just that! NEVER EVER use Super absorbant tampons unless you are bleeding to a great degree and need that level of protection.
Use a "slender" tampon..........plastic applicators glides more easily than paper applicators, (do NOT use deodorant tampons) slide the tampon in until the applicator meets your vaginal opening. It should feel comfortable enough that you don't, or almost don't feel the tampon, remove the applicator.
If you positioned the tampon correctly you shouldn't feel any discomfort. A squatting position is best.
Allow the tampon and it's intent, for about 4 to 6 hours before changing it. Frequent changes serve no purpose other than to dry the vagina and make insertion of another tampon more difficult.
At night, go to using a pad to allow the natural process of your period to be expelled.
Also, you can control the odor by using feminine hygiene spray on the"outside" of your panties rather than spray your vagina directly.
The pain of insertion may be due to dryness. Try waiting until you are in a heavy flow, then try the tampon.
Hope this helps.................

Take a break for a day or so....you'll just frustate yourself.
Make sure your mom bought you the kind in plastic, not cardboard. And make sure she gave you the skinniest ones they make.
I find it comfortable to place one foot up on the edge of the tub or the toilet and kind of stand with one leg up and the other on the ground but have your legs spread a little.
First you should know what your own body looks like and feels like. Take a mirror and look down there. Make sure you understand where everything is!
I know this sounds gross but try touching yourself in the area where the tampon will go in. That way you'll have better luck putting the tampon on in since you'll hopefully know a bit more about how your body feels.
You may want to get a small thing of KY Jelly to get the tampon slippery a little. Try easing it into your body. Tilt it a little both ways so that you feel like it's going in without much tugging or hard pushing.
Check out the Tampax website too!

ok, well, first of all, make sure you're trying a smaller size since this is your first real attempt. aslo, especially for someone who is just getting used to it, you may want to try some with a plastic applicator, they're easier to manage.
I think it's easier to do while you're seated on the toilet, or standing with 1 foot up on say the edge of the bath tub. Plus, you have to try to relax. If you're all tense, they won't go in. Also, you have to try to "aim" it sort of up and forward, towards your belly button. the angle is not straight back. also, this may seem kind of gross, and you may want to try it in the shower, but to get a better idea of which way the hole goes, maybe try sticking a finger in, gently, so you can find the angle.
also, if you're too "dry", like you just wiped really well, and there's no lubricant of any sort by the entrance to the vagina, it's harder to get anything in there. that's where the plastic applicators make it easier.
once you can figure out the angle, insert the tip of the tampon by holding it between your thumb and middle finger, and gently and slowly start to push on the bottom of the applicator with your index finger. once it 's all the way in, you'll know, and you can remove the applicator, gently. if it's in right, you'll know, because you shouldn't be able to feel anything.

well pretty much the thing you need to do is have the right size of tampons and there should be instructions inside the box. if not just follow the instructions everyone else left you.

You may be using ones that are too big. Tell her to get the thinnest ones possible. Keep in mind that you have to be COMPLETELY relaxed when you put it in. I find it easier to put it in while standing. If thin ones are still painful, maybe ask your mom or have her make an appt for ya. Worst case scenario...you're stuck with pads

you should adhere the tampon into your vagina untill the apllicator grip ( the section you ought to be conserving onto) is amazingly on the point of the exterior of your vagina. Then only push the plunger in the route of your vagina and take the aplicator out. once you try this then you truly must be nice.

ok ... well hopefully you know wat hole to put it in... well, at first, when i started using them.. i found it easier to stand up.. with one leg on the toilet seat.... then, with the tampon slightly slanted towards ur spine..incert it... im gonna guess .. like a 100 degree angle... but... you might find it eaiser to use plastic ones.... the incertes.. it goes in way more easy..... take your time.. it takes practice.. but once you get the hang of it... its mad easy and sooooo much better than pads... youll feel like u dont even have your period

Follow the directions on the insert, and relax- if your to tense it's going to hurt. If that don't work, you can always talk to your gyne.
