I have a very bad feeling that my computer is on the fritz. Firefox keeps crashing, and the PC is just generally acting weird. I tried "Search nd Destroy". It found 8 problems that it claims to have fixed. The browser continues to crash, and my computer still acts funny. Please recommend something besides shelling out 100 dollars to a technician to reformat.

Your computer should have come with a CD-ROM with a label something along the lines of "rescue disk" or "operating system recovery" then you can do this on your own. This disc contains an image of what was on you hard disk when it shipped from the manufacturer. All you have to do is back-up you picture/video files your documents and maybe your bookmarks, insert the CD-ROM and restart your computer. The Computer should ask if you want to boot from the CD choose yes and then it should format you hard disk and copy the operating system over to the hard disk. When it is finished you should be back to what your computer was like when you first pulled it out of the box. Now start over again and be more careful in the future.
