Selling Christmas cookies, candy, or decorations(particularly fresh greenery) door to door if you want to do something now. Later you could get permission to sell refreshments at school functions or even PTA meetings.

You can visit the local Humane Society and ask them for suggestions. I think you could start out by just taking donations. Write everyone's name down who donated, then put the names and the money in an envelope, then take it to the HS. You could also have a car wash, garage sale, craft sale, bake sale. There are a lot of ways to get money for the animals. Your heart is in the right place. Our stray, abused, neglected, homeless 4-legged furry friends need all the help and love you can give!
