Well first of all the University of Miami is very very very expensive! Unless you get a scholarship or you can afford it then don't try to go there. My friend got accepted there and his tuition for just two years of school was going to be close to $90,000. If you are a beach person then Miami is good for you or if you like that whole clubbing scene by the beach. There are a lot of people who travel to Miami because of the beaches or for whatever so yeah there are a lot of foreigners. People who live in Miami they are not exactly racist but they will tell you to learn the language and if you are not hispanic I wouldn't suggest living down there cause you won't really get ahead. There are lots of Miami that are dirty cause people litter and don't care or they are just bad areas. Miami does not smell bad. If you like the beach and stuff like that go for it. It is really expensive and the housing market keeps going up yet people are not really trying to buy cause the prices are ridiculous. You will basically go into debt when you get a house. People don't know how to drive down there and the people who live down there some aren't really nice. So good luck if you do move down there. You will probably get tired of it after a while. Oh yeah Miami also has the highest crime rate in Florida and murder rate.

University of Miami is very expensive. Living on campus would be your best bet. There are many students from other countries here. No one here is more racist than anywhere else. Miami is a true melting pot. The majority of people of foreign heritage are Latin. Miami is clean and beautiful and expensive. It smells fine. If it were bad here, no one would want to be here, and that is just the opposite. This is one of the best places in the USA to be, although not necessarily for a 17 year old student without unlimited funds.

wow i read of couple thinsg about everyones answers and im just suprised. i guess its by there are.

anyways, miami life is just like everywhere else. its not party life everyday like everyone makes it seem. yes of course theres clubs here and there but people do have a regular life. as you know the weather is mostly hot but youll get use to it. if you like the cold, i suggest you dont move here. it is getting expensive day by day but that happens everywhere in the us. if you work and dont spend alot of money everyday day, then youll maintain yourself. there is alot of foreigners. depends on the area, but we have people living here from all over the us. i myself was born here and im half cuban and nicaraguan from my parents. by the way miami is mostly a spanish speaking city so it would help if you knew it. some people above say that miamians are racist but its not really true. if you think abotu it, no matter where you are there is racism. you cant just say that that city is more racist than the other. miami is only dirty in certain places but compared to others its pretty clean. your always gonna find trach somewhere, but hey the world isnt perfect. it dosent smell bad i believe. i dotn know where that question came out from. and your last question i dont understand. if you need to know more info let me know and i can help :)

Are you thinking about the University of Miami? It's a good school. I can't compare because I don't know where you live. It is expensive, there are hundreds of thousands of Cubans and people from the Carribean islands, it's dirty like any city. I don't remember any particular bad odors. Miami is not South Beach where the beautiful people go. Since so many races live there, I don't expect you'll find racism. Best thing to do, if you can, is to make a visit first.

What is life in Miami really like?
its ok, kind of dirty, but not like new york, though.

Is it expensive?
very expensive, one of the most expensive places to live.

Are there a lot of foreigners?
there are very very few white people, and you need to speak spanish to get ANYTHING once youre in town.

Are Miamians racist like they say?
No, not really. only in a joking way, but there really isnt any tension between races. they might make fun of white people a little.

It's Miami dirty?
only in overtown, and downtown, but not terribly.

Does it smell bad?
No, not particularly, only near dumps and trash really.

Is Miami really all it's cracked up to be?
On the whole, not really. Its sunny, and warm, and semi exotic, but the prices are up the walls and people can be downright morons.

Trust me, i am a miami native and i cant wait to graduate and go to school in North carolina. personally I cant wait to get out of miami.

Yes to just about all your questions. Miami is kidna dirty, it is mostly all foriegners, just about everyone in public seems to be racist. The University of Miami is a beautiful school, I had several friends go there and love it, if that's what school you were referring to. It seems like alot of people complain about how bad it is here. I think they are the people who like to talk and be heard the most.(critics, cynics). Anyway Miami is not like living anywhere in the Northeast, or Midweat for that matter

It's barely a US city in my opinion. Lots of fun though. I have a great picture of a building downtown with the American flag crumpled and blown into a corner under a 3rd story window and the Cuban flag flying above it! You will have fun, just don't take any wrong turns. I spent 8 crazy years there then came back to the good ole USA
