I'm talking about the people that are on the Colbert Report and the Daily Show - espcially that woman commentator on the Daily Show. How did these people get their jobs? What kind of schooling did they go through?

Some go to school and major in some type of performing arts. Conan O'Brien was the head of the comedy club in college National Lampoons for Harvard. He also became a writer on the Simpsons and SNL. I believe most of the people on the Colbert Report and The Daily Show have all at one time been comedians & writers for comedy shows. A good way to get involved in these types of things are to join comedy troops like The Groundlings, Second City, etc. They have classes on improv and doing stand up doesn't hurt.

Most people who are on TV are born with talents, or at least with a great sense of humor and self-esteem to back that up..that's how they get discovered or they are instead being sent to acting schools,,i've heard best acting schools are in New York.. then they would have to find an agency and that agency will be the ones to find gigs or projects suitable for their talents..

Most news people go through journalism school. Or at least major in journalism. For an acting career, a person would take drama and go to an arts school or major in the arts. If you have a natural propensity for acting, get an agent.
