Well, the first thing to ask is, what kind of guitar do you have? If it's an accoustic, you'll most likely have to begin by pulling out the pegs toward the bottom of the guitar. These hold the strings in and are really easy to lose if you don't pay attention. Next, take your strings and arrange them from the highest gauge to lowest (the highest will be the biggest and will be your low E if you have a six-string). Start there and place the end with the nub in the leftmost peg-hole. Place the peg in, being sure not to pinch the string. Reach into the hole and make sure you can still feel the nub. Thread the other end into the corresponding peg at the other end so you still have a little slack and wind it gently, occasionally feeling inside the large hole in the middle to make sure that the peg holds the other end of the string steady without flying out. Repeat five times. Don't try to tune it up one string at a time, make sure they're all on first and tune slowly.

If you have an electric, follow similar instructions, but thread the strings through the holes provided at the bottom of the guitar, being sure to keep the strings on top of the fine tuners if there are any (this can be a challenge, I know).

Yes, I know, not very technical, but I figured it'd be easier for you if I didn't throw in too many technical names. Hopefully my description will suit you well.

Depends. if its an acoustic, take out the plastic pegs out at the bottom of the guitar. Put the end of the string with the ball in the hole, then replace the pegs with the string inside If it has a whammy ball do the same but cut of the ball and tighten it into place. If it is like a Gibson, there should be 6 holes that run through the chrome bridge of the guitar. Slide the string through the hole and tighten at the top. Start with the heaviest string on top lightest string on bottom. I hope this helps.
