how do i find out what motherboard i have without taking the pc apart ?

Look at the box that the motherboard comes in?

Just kidding, why not look into the manual that comes with the PC or the receipt/proof of purchase. Or simply call up the guy who sold it to you.

You can't. The system info will only list the drivers for chips on the board. The cover will have to come off.
The Maker should easy to determine. The model can be tough to find/see.
