If it's in your middle, ring and pinkie, and up into your elbow area there are a few possibilities. You could possibly have ulnar nerve impingement near your elbow, or a subluxating tendon (snaps over the nerve and snaps back into place, thus irritating the nerve). Or it could be higher, up into your shoulder, which is a little more likely since you said it is three fingers, instead of just your pinky. You could have impingement syndrome in your shoulder due to the way your bones are formed, or movements of the musculature. It could also involve your brachial plexus (the same thing that is irritated in "stingers" or "burners"). Finally it could be radiating from your neck, since your nerves originate there. You could possibly have a cervical disc bulge, or something else irritating those nerve roots.
As you predicted, go to a doctor...but not an internist, or a family practitioner. Go to a good musculoskeletal doc, (orthopedist or osteopath) or a chiropractor, they'll be able to diagnose you effectively and do the tests to rule out these possibilities. If you don't go to a chiropractor first, and the doc says it is your neck, and you need surgery, go to a chiropractor for a second opinion, to check to see if they can keep you from it.

well seeing as how the docs above hadn't gotten any info if you had damage to your hand. for all they know can have your shoe to tight. if you are primarily left handed and don't have history of direct damage then you can narrow it down some. tingling is from either nerve input or absence of input to the brain. if you use a mouse on a computer too much it could be from repetative motion, which tends to lead to carpal tunnel syndrome. If misspelled you got the idea i'm an electrician not a scholar. like any other pain ice and heat and don't abuse it. take an antiinflamatory if not allergic to what you may have taken in the past and if doesn't heal then see a doc for check. what you expect for medical expertise from yahoo people?

Sometimes, if you hold your hand in one place for too long, or use it alot, the nerves will start twitching to send pain signals throughout your hand. However, the natural endrophins (painkillers) in your body will react and surge to relieve it, thus the numb tingly feeling. Another option is that your fingers may be losing blood flow. Do they feel cold when you touch them while they tingle? If so, then you really should talk to a medical professional.

It appears that you have damaged nerves in your hand. Nerve damage causes tingling sensations in your extremities. It takes along time to heal, you can do nothing, but be patient.

Don't worry. You'll be just fine. Just rest it a bit. It happens to everyone. It if doesn't stop in a few weeks. (Approx. 2 weeks) Then tell a doctor. Hope you feel better!!

have u tryied to massage your hands, or have you taken some blood flowing natural tablets from your health food store near your local shopping centre, and ask them if they can help you with your left hand problem, and if it doesn't work then try and get someone to massage partner etc..or try a natrapath or a specalists to look at your hand, and ask him what to do then. goood luck.... hope it helped you?
