According to the official monopoly rules:
You land in Jail when...
(1) Your token lands on the space marked "Go to Jail",
(2) You draw a card marked "Go to Jail" or
(3) You throw doubles three times in succession.

The question is in the latter scenario when you throw the third double, do you play out the role of the dice and THEN go to jail or do you go IMMEDIATELY to jail.

This question arose in a game where the role would have landed on a heavily built up area. The person rolling the dice preferred to go immediately to jail while the property owner would have preferred him to complete the turn, pay the rent and then go to jail. Who was right?

When ever you are sent to Jail, you go to Jail immediately, without passing Go, etc.

Hence you do not move the roll, you move the token directly to Jail. Good in some cases, bad in others!

You go directly to jail right after the third throw. Throwing the third double entitles you to go to jail without completing the turn.

I've always played that you go directly to jail...do not pass "go"...do not collect $200. But its a board game, play it anyway you want to, just make sure the person knows how you are playing. If you don't like my answer, just check the rules.

you go directly to jail after you rolled doubles three times in a row, you do not play out what you would have landed on.

You go straight to jail - it's like getting the go to jail card; go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Monopoly is based around the idea of starting a business and taking over everything (hence the term 'monopoly'). Most people who inherit by birthright don't turn to that. You could make it a custom rule, though, just for fun.
