Yes racism exists in America. As long as we continue to use the term "race" to imply difference(s) within the "human race" (hint..), in turn using those differences to make ourselves feel like we are included in the good or the bad, the more or the less, racism will always exist. The term implies difference(s) and or seperation in some way, shape or form.
It blows my mind how we allow words to affect us. Please refer to Wikipedia and the links below. Find out for yourself the history of the word race. Don't stop there, keep digging.
In the end the difference is you. Does your skin color make you feel superior to any other skin color? Do you wish your skin was a different color for status.
Skin color. I could care less about mine, or yours. I am a person just like you. However, our difference would make for a list about a mile long without even mentioning skin color. I would like to encourage the world (but mainly America) to not pass this crap on to our children. It's a cycle that as you can see is hard to break.
Consider this. If I met you for the first time, would your skin color tell me everything about you? Probably not. Be inquisitive, not fearful. Learn what makes an individual tick. Don't assume that that individual has the same thing in common as someone else that you probably didn't know anything about, that left you with a bad impression. I am "African-American" though I've never been to Africa. Well, consider to, some Middle Eastern cultures have skin darker than mine, as well as some South American and Austrailian cultures. Wait, why do white people get tans. Actually, Black is the absence of color, or can be considered to not even be visible without light. Now I'm just rambling. Hope you get it. It only matters to you if it matters. Seek God.

Of course there is racism in America, as there is in every society. Every group experiences some varying degree of racism as well, it is not just towards one group. In the past it had been American Indians or African Americans, but now there is racism against Hispanics, Arab Americans, and even reverse racism against whites, so it exists all around. The US is unique in that it confronts its problems and presses for open dialogue, while many other societies consider racism an embarrassment and attempt to hide or deny it, however it is part of human nature to single out a group for discrimination and it happens everywhere.

yes it does , every race is effected , yes I do IM not proud of it but if I walk into a room with 10 skate punks in a group , 10 black men in a group , and 10 late 30s to early 40s white men in yet another group I will gravitate toward the group Im most familiar and therefore more confortable with . Raceism is fear of the unknown and we all have it we dont all go out an burn crosses or behave hatefully toward others but raceism is always there its how we deal with it that makes us good or bad as members of the human race

there is tons of prejudice, not totally racism. mostly towards anyone not white, but the US as a whole has been getting better over the years. I grew up in an upper class white family. I myself am Asian, but I never experienced or even really understood racism until I moved out on my own. I learned about it even more by joining the military. There is a huge diversity in the military.

Of course it does! Really, I think all races are subject to it in some form. Blacks may hate the whites for some reasons and same for whites hating the blacks for some reasons. It can go either way for all races.

I know this may not be part of your question but, look at those that are homosexual(gays and lesbians), states are passing laws stating they can't get "married" or have the same rights as those that are straight. Isn't that a form of racism too?

Hate crimes are being committed. Just ask the people in Arizona who had racial epithets written all over their trashed new home.
I am not a racist but I am against idiots who do such things. I would love to see them punished for their stupidity.

I have many reasons to hate people of the negroe race. lost my home. because of one. one beat me to rob me. almost lost my life.they have stolen. robbed. lied. about every thing evil a person can do. but I am a Christian and try to forgive them. or else I would be killing a number of them.I am from South Carolina and was raised by Christian parents who never said a bad word about anyone.nor have I ever heard a bad word about negroes from my grandparents ,uncles ,aunts, cousins.but I am sure many negroes hate white people .I have seen there anger.but they do much crime to themselfs . so it may just be a negroe thing.to be criminals.and be violent.I wish them well. I pray for the race.
