I just don't understand. Under a capitalist system one could theoretically accomplish anything, under the other system we are talking about a life time of mediocrity. Communism seems to kill millions of people through political persecution or a lack of resources that leads to starvation. Capitalism if it does hurt people it mostly hurts those who sit around whining instead of doing something. We earn and give more money than any other nation on Earth. Give me one good reason why we are wrong or why communism is right?

We have yet to see a true communist state or any other genuine example of it. In a communist society, everyone has a job and a purpose, a decent quality of life and has their needs taken care of (ie, medical care). No one is more equal or deserving of anyone else as long as they do their jobs to ensure that the wheel of society keeps turning. In theory, with peace and prosperity of that nature, people could devote themselves to the arts, to scientific achievement, to medicine and so forth without worrying about the next meal, or their kids' welfare or committing fraud to further their fortune or position. Unfortunately, humanity is incapable of forming or maintaining an ideal society and the attempts have always corrupted and perverted to facistic totalitarianism. The closest anyone has really come in the modern world is probably the Israeli kibutz, but that really doesn't make it either.
