Go with outboard gear such as the Presonus fire box that uses USB, you will get much better results.

Well a sound card really only matters for playback, Most media player have all the things you need to make a good recording. But for playback Creative Labs soundblasters series from 25.00 to 150+ and you will need a good set of speakers Like from Cambridge SoundWorks. Go to Best Buy or somewhere you can listen to them. the sound cards You can only look ate the sites for info. Hope that helps.

If you would like to invest about $150 'get a digitech RP250! It is best of both worlds.It is a effects processor with 60 presets and an online community to discover even 60 more! It has a usb for your computer to record and share! Jam on ! they have an awsome website to sample it

I use a line 6 UX1 toneport. It came with the Ableton recording program and an amp/effects modeling program. It does fairly well as far as sound quality, especially considering the price. Mine cost me about 130 US dollars at a local music store. There is also a UX2 model, with extra ports and features for about 160.

I bought an m-audio soundcard and had a computer tech install it and watched him do it .I payed $100 for it and can't get it to work I contacted music stores and the company and got no help so good luck and if you find one that actually records.If you do please contact me.
