Our daughter thinks it is 15 points per week but it would take nearly 15 hours for her to earn this (at her reading level). I am guessing this point goal is for their quarter/semester. Sound right?

Thanks in advance!

To provide more detail... she has read over 4 hours this week outside school and has only earned 4 points. (One 3 point book and One 1 point book) There is no way she could earn 15 points in a week because it would require about 15 hours of reading. The poor girl is out working herself to achieve this goal... :)

'Everybody' books are worth from 0.5 to 1.5, Judy Bloom books are around 5, and they go up depending on her reading level and her comprehension. If you'd prefer LOTS of books (and their variety) until she figures out what kinds she likes, I'd stick with the 'Everybody' books (formerly known as Picture books).

It depends on the books that she's reading. For example, Harry Potter books are in the 30's, I believe. If she reads lower-level books, they are worth less, but a faster read. Your Media Specialist (Librarian, hehe) should be able to provide a list of the books with the point values.
