My friend, who is gay, told a mutual girlfriend that she thought that Alex (not his real name) was F*&king HOT, laughingly he told her that he want to be a pair of Alex's underwear, our friend mentioned it to someone and you know how gossip spreads. Anyways Alex found out and beat the crap out of my friend, bad enough that his nose is broken, he busted his lip and his face is swollen. I admit that the underwear comment was a bit much, but why can't straight guys take a comment about him being goodlooking and be happy? Its not like we're throwing you down and trying to have sex with you, we are just admiring the fact that you are well put together and we are appreciating that

+ a real straight guy would not care, and simply go on to the next topic.

"Alex" went overboard but your friend's comment was very inciting. Perhaps if it had been left at the "hot" comment and not gotten so "personal" maybe it wouldn't have made "Alex" so mad.

Truthfully, if a woman made the same comment about a man, no matter how good looking he is, I doubt he'd consider dating her... the comment was in very poor taste.

However, to answer your question: straight men have a tendency to fight for their masculinity and finding out from a slew of friends that a gay guy wants to be "his man" probably didn't do much for his sexuality.

Any rational person should be able to accept a compliment from someone. People only hate what they fear. If a straight guy is really so terrified by even just the idea of homosexuality I think that maybe he has some deep seated denial issues. After all Hitler was just killing Jews because he was embarrassed to be one.

Damn I wouldn't go to that measure...that's seriously wrong BUT....i'd be a bit mad about it too.

UNFORTUNATELY, when a gay person is attracted to you, YES it can mean he may want to hook up, and that DOES affect the striaght guy because suddenly people begin to look at you and question (ignorant i know, but it happens). And then just like that rumor, it spreads, then suddenly it can escalate, just like in this case.

I've been chased after by gay dudes, and just cause they chased me suddenly women assumed i was gay, then all of a sudden the girl i tried to date couldn't make it work cause she thought i'm gay. It escalates!

So YES, i'm gonna feel threatened when some gay dude tries to hit on me. You can like me all you want as long as you just stay away, because i'm STRAIGHT and I'd like to have my romance with a woman, without going through the trouble of them thinking i'm gay.

Now would i beat you up? No..that's stupid, you did nothing wrong except like me, but i WILL avoid you. Do what you do, but don't involve me...it's like gothic people to high school preppies, because society's majority basis people's personality and character on appearance and actions....not on who you really are...and as long as that exists, problems will insist like that....sorry for your friend..but you got *ssholes in this world like that.

B/c it makes them uncomfortable, even with me if a girl hit on me, I'd feel awkward, sadly, it's just how it is. And also they probably just don't want that kind of attention

"Alex" is obviously a complete psychopath.
Most good looking straight men would be completely complimented. I hope your friend presses charges.

Usually when they react this way it only means they have often questioned their own sexuality and aren't comfortable with anyone else doing so as well. I believe it's called homophobia.
