A recovery. You can buy or borrow disks from somebody that clears the hard drive and deletes everything from it. But before doing it make sure there is nothing that you needed to keep on it becuase it will delete that. It deletes all files, virus', settings, ect.

If the hard drive is 64GB or less, you can boot to a Win98 bootdisk and run fdisk to remove the partition and add a new one and then format it. That will keep old data from anyone but professional data recovery.
If its over 64GB then use the XP boot cd to remove it and create a new one. Can't really format it though but should be okay.

If you are worry about your sensitive data, beware, because deleting or formatting will not physically remove the data. The indexes to the files are removed but the physical data still resides on the disk!!!
To permanently remove all data, zero fill it.
One good program is to get the Max Blast program from Maxtor. It is free and you can zero fill any drive from any manufacturer.

there are ways to retrive anything you have ever done. however if you just delete your documents and un-install most of the programs most of you info will be off. Better solution is to use (if available) the manufacture's CD's tp restore the machine to original state. hope this helps....
