I saw some of the other answers - and they were all great players, also do not forget about Hack Wilson - played in the 1930s - once hit 56 Homeruns and had 191 RBIs in a single season.

ron santo is probably just as popular in chicago. every year when the veterans committee meets to pick who they will induct, cubs fans are on the edge of their seats. hopefully ron will get in soon.
back in '03 when the cubs blew there 3-2 lead in the series with the marlins, the cubs had already asked ron santo to throw out the first pitch of the world series. after game six, he said if the cubs got to the series he would bring steve bartman out with him.

Sandberg was a popular player when he played,man that guy killed us,Whitey called him Baby Ruth after he hit 2 home-runs off Bruce Sutter.1 was in the 9th to tie the game,and the other was in like the 11th-12th to win it.I think the Cubs came back from a 4-5 deficit
