It's rare. If you had a D&C (dialation and cutterage) it could cause an infection in your uterus, but if you take the 2 types of pills they give you (one is specifically for infection, the other to shrink the uterus) the odds of that happening are slim. Just make sure you refrian from sex and baths for the amount of time the doctor suggests. Contrary to what many people think, it's VERY easy to get pregnant after an abortion. Your body is already geared towards making a baby and all the needed hormones are present. One problem with the D&C is..if it's done poorly it can cause an incompetent cervix which can cause miscarriage or very premature labor in subsequent pregnancies. If you're having pain that persists in your lower abdomen (and especially if your abdomen is sore or hard to the touch) call your doctor. You should have a follow up visit within a month of having an abortion either way. Good luck!

Your ovaries wouldn't be affected. They're too far away.
Your fallopian tubes might, though. They could be blocked by debris if the doctor is inexperienced or hurried. After my D & C a couple years back, one of mine was. Your OB/GYN can do a test (it's kind of painful) to see whether they are.
If one is ... well, that means your chances of conceiving are cut in half. Since eggs are actually fertilized *in* the fallopian tube, the sperm need to be able to get in there. Plus, even if they got past it, the egg wouldn't be able to pass into the uterus, and you'd probably end up with an ectopic pregnancy. If BOTH are blocked, that's worse. Sperm can't get in there at all. But they can be cleared. Sometimes they clear on their own ... mine did.
Another possibility is scarring of the uterine lining, but that's rare and unlikely unless 1) the doctor has NO IDEA what he/she was doing, or 2) you've had lots of abortions.
So as long as you get the tubes checked for blockages, other problems are unlikely.
WTF is up with the thumbs down? Do you know WHY I had a D & C? Huh? No? It's because the baby was DEAD. Thanks for making me feel great. Don't judge anyone unless you know.

Unless an abortion introduced an infection, there's no reason for your ovaries or Fallopian tubes to have been affected in any way.

Many times abortions cause problems with carrying a future baby to term. I don't know specifically about ovaries or tubes, unless there was infection, but the cervix is very often compromised and cannot hold in a baby to term, resulting in miscarriage, or pre-term labor.

While complications can occur with any medical procedure, it is very unlikely that you will experience any lasting problems from a standard abortion performed at a professional medical clinic by a medical doctor trained to perform abortions. Planned Parenthood can help guide you in this area free and without judgement.

If you had an abortion... I hope they are affected and prevent you from ever killing another innocent life. Selfish, I wouldn't have an abortion even if the pregnancy was going to kill me. I'd give my life for the baby any day.

There can be complications. You should get checked regularly. I know people who have had problems from that.
Don't listen to the people saying you shouldn't of had one. Until they walk in your shoes, they don't know!
