FDISK is an old DOS program/function to 'format' disk drive. It is use to partition a disk drive into several partition depending on the user's needs.

FDISK is no longer available on the new windows OS but they do provide the ability to do the same and more through computer administrative tools under disk management.

FDisk is a dos utility used to partition(break into sections) a disk.

Each partition becomes a drive lettered beginning with c: usually because a and b are usually floppy

So, three partitions would create drives hard disk drives lettered c, d, e.

You can make exceptions by demanding the d = your CD drive or e= a network drive.

You use this to set the drive for formatting. If you run this command all the way through you will wipe it clean, it warns you that all data will be lost.

This is used on new drives or drives you are wiping clean.

Um, yeah, if you don't know what it is, don't play with it. If you have an old computer, it can turn it into an old box of parts. Inexperienced people can annihilate their hard drive with it.
