You don't need great financial wealth to take care of your needs. Only your wants. And to be able to help others with your wealth.

Great question Mike! Benjamin Franklin said "Lack of money leads to lack of everything." He would know, he was poor at one time and ended up extremely wealthy. I've known people who worked for minimum wage who had a perpetual grin. I've known millionaires who were miserable. When you devote all of your energy to aquirring wealth and none to the other aspects of your life you're bound to be unhappy. Gotta have balance. Studies have shown that people who earn an above average income are the happiest. Not the super rich. IMO the perfect amount is a little more than you need. That's where I am now. It's nice to not sweat the bills, to have extra cash on hand, to have everything I need. There is no end to human desire. There are things that even Bill Gates couldn't afford to do. Great financial wealth in and of itself does not bring happiness. Poverty almost invariably brings misery. Incredibly interesting topic. Volumes have been written about it. Great food for thought. Anyway, to answer your question: Not for most people. It will bring you what you want and
a more comfortable life but you can get what you NEED on a modest income. Much of what you need is free anyway.

How about peace of mind. When you dont have to worry if the lights are getting shut off its a load off your shoulders. Never having to worry about whether or not your medical needs are taken care of. when the car breaks. Place to live. Without money its hard. These are the things that make life difficult for most people.

Choices.

I can choose to attend my daughter's school function in the middle of the day without begging a boss for the time off. I can choose to give to my favorite charities. I can choose to help.

With financial poverty, your choices are limited.
