or can it be used for New Years too?

Yeah, New Year's is fine, but you would look a little odd using mistletoe on say, May 14.

Traditionally, mistletoe was hung around the holiday season which started with the four weeks before Christmas and went until Epiphany (January 6th). After that time it was taken down and burned, so that the energies it had drawn into itself during that time could be released.

Nope, European countries use mistletoe as a great medication for cancers and for respiratory and circulatory system conditions--in fact, this "parasite" may even become a treatment of cancer tumors. So mistletoe is used pretty much every day, but too bad you can't prescribe it in the U.S. yet...

Mistletoe is a parasite that lives in trees. It grows mostly in the south. It is in bloom about this time of year that is why you only see it during this season.
