I think some people do it because they answered the same question and they want someone else who has a good answer to have fewer votes. Other times I think people who give the thumbs down honestly feel like they don't like the person's answer. Maybe you feel that the response is good but everyone has their opinion of what is and isn't good...

cutiepie4 you gotta remember that different people have different perceptions so waht you might see as cool others see as offensive or not helpful...etc
since thumbs down can be given on so many bases there is really no definite resason why certain people use it or misuse it.
remember the answers to questions always depends on how you filter information

Answered your own question....some people are just annoying, and they can't help themselves. I should know, I work for several of them...oh, and I seem to be married to one too...and don't get me started about the in-laws...but enough about me.

They are the trolls. Yes, they are annoying and they do it to piss the asker and answerers. They make it their business to mess around this site.
