According to what I learned Religion and Goverment are suposed to be kept apart then why does it seem as if most U.S. Goverment leaders are deciding major issues base on it For example Abortion, Gay Marrige, Stem Cell Research all things that Religon is strongly aganist. I respect all religion but i do not have to follow it. Why should people who do not belive in that not have there way? What are your opinons?

Christianity is the basis for our government. As for what you heard about the "separation of church and state", read the First Amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

This has been perverted by a bunch of out of control activist judges with an agenda. The government may not establish a national religion. This does not mean it cannot acknowledge it. There are a group of anti-Christians who want all morality to vanish. They want people to do what they want, when they want. Bill O'Reilly calls it the traditionalists vs the secular/progressives. I cannot stand the progressive part because people like this are anti-progress. They think they are useful, but they are not.

Religion is the basis for a person's values. Catholics are taught that abortion is murder (which it is). You cannot separate the two.

The answer really is where do we draw the line when it comes to the seperation of goverhnment from religion?
For example, murder, robbery and theft, non-plural marriages, State and Federally recognized paid holidays, ban on prayer in schools, etc., are all based on someone's religious expectations of a civilized society.

The Republican Party embraced Jerry Falwell and all the right-wing religious fanatics; hence its also sold its soul, and is allowing more and more Christian fundementalism to govern our country. And they (the fundy Christians) complain that they're being discriminated against? What a joke!

our country was founded on christian principles. We have forgotten what the fathers of this country stood for. Many of which were Christians , and held positions as pastors , deacons, and Freemasons. If you do not like the country , find some place better suited to your desires.
