What makes it hard is that our core abdominal muscles are stretched by our growing baby. You shouldn't lift anything heavier than 20 pounds after 20 weeks of pregnancy because lifting can cause your abdominal muscles to seperate. Once they've seperated, they won't come back together (you'll always have this little dip down the center of your stomach) and it will lead to back pain and core support problems later on.

You shouldn't be lifting heavy things in the first place. You are putting pressure on you baby that can cause you to go into labor.

You can lift anything under 35lbs, safely. However it is going to be more difficult because you centre of balance is off.
