I think it's blind for some people to say bass is repetitive so don't listen to that comment someone put on here lol anywayz both bass and guitar are equally important so it just depends on what your mind is made for. I'd say bass is easier to learn because it is easier on stuff like ACDC and also the scales are easier to learn. But just keep the mindset of guitar and bass are equally important. Guitar keeps the melody, sometimes rhythm, but bass fills the low void of music and can do some melody if you want it to and if melody fits into a certain part and it keeps everything together in a song. It's the heart of a song. without it the music can fall apart. But bass is easy on easy-medium songs. It can get advanced and real hard on music like Iron Maiden where Steve Harris does 32nd notes with his fingers, no pick. But for mainstream stuff i'd start on bass. 4 strings is the most used type of bass and it does mainly rhythm on mainstream or ACDC type stuff .

I play bass BTW.

Easier to learn how to play bass, BUT I believe that it is harder to learn to play the bass good. I've played Guitar for 15 years as well as bass and I can say that I'm okay at bass. Bass is more of a feeling instrument then guitar. You need to feel the music, your heart needs to be there, if it isn't you can tell, not saying that guitar isn't but bass is the heart of a band. Look at the great bass players in rock today, Les Claypool, Geedy Lee, Flea you can feel the bass and it cotributes to the song as a whole instead of filling in the low end of the sound spectrum. Great guitarist are everywhere Great bassist are hard to find.

no way, i think guitar is easier!! the strings are thinner, easier to move around. (and if you think well all bass does is hit one note big deal, then thats not bass.) bass you need MUCH stronger arms, it is a great workout. also, there is NO strumming. all finger-picked, almost all of the time without a pick.

Bass guitar. Only 4 strings, rythym not lead, and very repetitive.

They are both great musical instruments to learn, but the guitar is more complicated to master. 6 strings instead of four, plus much more things to learn such as bending, finger tapping and harmonics, but the guitar is the way to go, Plus girls dig guitar players
