America is a democratic republic with a three branch system.
We're not a true democracy, because the people don't vote on specific laws. We elect people who vote for those laws. Thus we are a republic, but since we do elect the representatives, it is democratic in nature.

Lots of things. There are many things that could be improved about our system of government in all three branches. We could start by defusing partisan barriers and bureaucratic barriers to an efficient government. And even if you do not completely agree with what our President and the Republican majority in Congress is currently doing (like me), it is false to say that the government isn't doing anything about terrorism or keeping us safe. I don't think America will be destroyed "in as long as a year" or within a year or anything like that. The government, no matter what your personal opinions is of them, is doing what it can to prevent attacks. I personally do not think they are doing enough. But to pretend that they are doing absolutely nothing is completely ridiculous. And I can't criticize only the Republicans, because the Democrats will have trouble doing much better if they obtain the majority this November. The world we currently live in since 9/11 is difficult, difficult for the government, difficult for the citizens. But we will make it through. This is NOT the apocalypse before anyone brings that up.

The United States of America ( not just America) is a constitutional republic. This means that all laws must conform to the framework of the U.S. constitution (constitutional) and that we elect representatives to make the laws for us ( republic). It is not a " democracy" which more or less means majority rules no matter what.Imagine four wolves and two sheep deciding whats for dinner in a democracy.

If you remember the "pledge of Allegiance" it is a republic, as in "to the republic for which it stands." It is also democratic as we have the right to elect our officials.

its a republican form of government, not a democracy since in a democracy, the people represent themselves and not elect others to represent them.
