I work with little ones and multiples almost always come early due to the limited space and the pressure that they put on the cervix. My suggestion is to stay off your feet as much as possilbe. Not complete bed rest but as much as you can. The longer they stay in the better of a chance they will get to come home right away instead of being in the hospital. Take this next 4-5 weeks and relax have the husband or boyfrind, or relatives do all the hard housework. It is very important that you relax and stay off your feet. Best of luck and CONGRATULATION!!

If this is your third child, 1 cm means NOTHING AT ALL. You may well have been 1 cm for your entire pregnancy since you never close up as tightly after you've had a baby. Don't allow being 1 cm to freak you out. Also, how far dilated or effaced you are really mean NOTHING AT ALL reguarding when you'll go into labor. Moms can walk around for a week or more dilated 3-4 cm and 100% effaced! Or they can be closed up tight as a bank vault and have a baby a few hours later.

My sister had twins and made it to 36 1/2 weeks but on complete bedrest. You'll need monitoring to make sure that your blood pressure doesn't rise too high. Get Twins Magazine, it's great and a lot of help. Follow your doctor's orders to the letter. Here are three hints about twins:
1) Get lots of help. When friends offer help, take them up on it. If they want to come over to help, ask them to help with laundry and things, not just playing with or holding the kids. Also, ask people to bring over casseroles at first -- it helps a lot to not have to cook.
2) It's okay to praise each boy. If one is intelligent, you don't have to downplay that.
3) Sometime, when they are older, a "friend" will try and come between them, by making friends with one and turning that one against the other. I don't know why, jealousy maybe.
Good luck!

I never had twins but i have been given 2 grandsons in the last year and one on the way. Being dilated to 1 or 2 cm is normal for weeks before the due date. If you are that concerned talk to your doctor your best source of information!

I was pregant with twins. I went into labor at 18 weeks and dilated to 2 centimeters. The hospital admitted me and put me on magnesium sulfate and pro cardia and Lovenox. They sent me home after 2 weeks, informing me not to get up out of bed except to shower, go to the bathroom, and travel to my doctor's appointments (which were once a week.) I went into labor, again at 24 weeks. That time I dialated to 3 centimeters before they stopped labor. They let me go home on even more medication.
The medication was very expensive. We didn't have medical insurance. My husband made too much money for Medicaid.
So, I couldn't take most of what the doctor prescribed.
I was very careful and rested a lot in bed, but with a toddler
around and no friends or neighbors to watch him, while my husband worked, I couldn't stay in bed all the time.
Still, I made it to 37 weeks and delivered healthy babies.

With most twin births they do arrive early. However even at 34 weeks they're probably healthy. Try not to worry at such a late stage in your pregnancy it is not healthy / safe to the babies and could cause you to go into labor even sooner. Just put your feet up, relax and try your best not to worry, for the babies sakes.

Maybe you should be on bedrest. Your doctor is an idiot. Just make sure to sit a lot and not be too stressed, good luck.
